Modifications/Anomalies: New everything: maple neck, gold anodized pickguard, Lace 30th Anniversary Gold Sensor pickups, Gotoh tuners and some really cool gold/metal volume/tone knobs.

Details: I thought up a gold on white concept and found that Fender had thought of it first…sort of. Their custom shop created a similar model, but dressed theirs with silver and white hardware. I decided on all-gold. I had to go to a number of specialty sites to get all the hardware, including the metal-gold pickguard and knobs, but it was worth the trouble. Now I usually build these things for fun. But every once in a while, one will turn out to play as good as it looks. Such is the case with Ginny. The pickups rock in unison, and sound wonderfully specific on their own (hooray for the Lace Brothers.) It’s become the backbone guitar of my seventh album (“So it Was”). And the nickname is Her Royal Highness Virginia (but her friends call her Ginny.) Virginia was the illegitimate child of straight-laced Queen Victoria. Never able to rightly claim her royal lineage, Ginny grew up to be a bit of a bad girl and that suits this guitar just fine.
