Modifications/Anomalies: Replaced original pickups and changed pickup dressing to black.

Details: I always wanted a Les Paul but the weight and price kept me at bay. Gibson came out with this matte version at about the same time Fender released its Highway One matte versions of the Strat. The cost was affordable, primarily because Gibson put cheap pickups in it and saved money during manufacture by skipping the candy-coat finish. I put hotter humbuckers in it (can’t remember exactly which) and swapped out the plastic pickup covers and pickup switch to black purely for cosmetics. Plays real nice. Good punchy sound. And sweet and simple to look at.

Donated the Red Paul to good friend/guitarist Dave Thomas for his 50th Birthday in November 2011.
