Details: Young son Ben wanted to play guitar. Fine, I said, but let’s find something that fits your size and that you can knock around. I bought this ¾ Santa Rosa someplace. Plywood body and awful neck, but it served its purpose of lighting a fire within. He eventually left the Santa Rosa off to the side and bought his first guitar: a sunburst American Standard Strat. He became a fine guitarist and went on to play in his high school jazz band and now has a collection of his own; including a beautiful white Les Paul that we bought at the Gibson factory in Memphis on one of our cross-country trips.
