World That I Don’t See
© Greg Smith
You and I are driving down the road to hell,
and I don’t know it
Curve ahead, the world that I don’t see
Sunny day and we are laughing at the world,
But who’s the joke on?
I don’t know, the world that I don’t see
Sitting on the porch you said that we would call our own
I never thought you’d leave me here and sitting all alone
A table full of artifacts and memories
Upon the altar
Sacrifice, the world that I don’t see
Break the bank on vintage wine and faux cuisine
M’anon l’addition (check please)
Au mon Dieu, the world that I don’t see.
All the time I’m holding you and planning out our lives
All the while inside your head you’re thinking of goodbye.
(Solo)
Sitting on the porch you said that we would call our own
I never thought you’d leave me here and sitting all alone
Sailing in the moonlight with the world at bay
A perfect moment
But not with me, the world that I don’t see.
You and I are driving down the road to hell,
and I don’t know it
Curve ahead, the world that I don’t see
Two Lives
© Greg Smith
Two lives, one for the world to believe in
The other a world to deceive in
And each to itself
I walk, in and around the living
Breathing in their misgivings
In shadows and light
Feeling the sin, holding it in
What you’ve been told, as you grow older
Finding the truth in a touch in the deep of the night
Morals aside, will I abide,
Is it a lie when you don’t see it?
Gamble it all in a moment of earthly delight
I fall, justification is feeble
And some of time illegal
And some of it not
To live, resolving the choices we’ve taken
Your heart and soul to awaken
It balances out
Feeling the sin, holding it in
What you’ve been told, as you grow older
Finding the truth in a touch in the deep of the night
Morals aside, will I abide,
Is it a lie when you don’t feel it?
Gamble it all in a moment of earthly delight
Two lives, one for the world to believe in
The other a world to deceive in
And each to itself
And all is yourself
Walk in the Sun
© Greg Smith
And so the circle closes in
from all the people in your book
The man you see each day at lunch
sometime today gave you the look
Walk in the sun, hide from the light
Tasting a feeling you know cant be right
Sinful delight
A certain feeling in your car
His eyes have caused your heart to soar
And left you smiling at yourself
And left you wanting something more
Walk in the sun, hide from the light
Tasting a feeling you know cant be right
Sinful delight
But now your painting’s left undone
The palette dark hardens, colors dark
This beauty can’t create itself
You have to speak it from the heart.
God’s Own Moon
© Greg Smith
Whisper now, confess to me all the fears you hold
Close at hand, and make a pact to face them with me
Hope and faith, they are but two sharp sides of God’s own knife
Take a chance and feel with me the kiss of life
Stand in the fire, to bring about truth
Never release all the passion of youth
You’ll never lie in the deep of the night
in the light
Of God’s own moon tonight
Fading hours, to dance among the day’s remaining light
Make a wish and keep it with me through the night
And through the night, efficient cutting beam regards us all
Laying bare the only one that I can’t lie to
Stand in the fire, to bring about truth
Never release all the passion of youth
You’ll never lie in the deep of the night
in the light
Of God’s own moon tonight
Speak to me and tell me of your heart
Trust in me the very sacred part
And feel with me the kiss of life
Making Scents
© Greg Smith
Love, if you don’t love me
I will be there in our heart
Love, when you don’t love me
You’ll curse that we’re never apart
Feel the fear, take taste the tear
You’re of the kind, to lose your mind
Touch, remember too much
Each time you kiss someone’s lips
Touch, remembering touch
Clutching in passion’s sweet grip
Hear, what do you hear
Whispering buried desire
Hear, there in your ear
No one can put out the fire
Taste, savor the taste
Lingers a while on your lips
See, see what you’ve left
Love at your heart it will rip
Feel the fear, taste the tear
You lost your heart, and then your mind
Scents, filling the air
Each one will play out its part
What Could Have Been
© Greg Smith
Sacred heart so tender to touch
Peel away defenses within
Make a pledge forever to keep
Down the path, a love to begin
Reach out your hand
at least if you’ll try,
Angels to hold us whenever we lie
Angels forgive us whenever we lie
Speak to me in emerald tones
Choose the words that mirror the soul
All the times you’ve been hurt before
Traded peace for lack of control
What could have been
A life of sin
It tastes so fine
Like love in time
I reach for you across my bed
A twist of fate
What could have been
Time on the Line

Lightly falling rain
Mixing with the pain and tears on my face
I think I’ve lost my way
None of these roads take me back to your place
Oh I can’t understand slipping like sand through my fingers
How in the world can there be love that won’t linger
I can’t get through on the telephone
Talkin’ to myself in the dark
Loving you, holding your heart
Can’t be the only thing
The world’s out there, waiting for me
It’s time I became myself
I’m counting on me
And so I’m back again
Looking for the friend that you said you’d be
Hoping that you’ll bend
Comin’ back and comin’ on to me
Fighting back the hunger, looking for you under the covers
The late show’s on but I’m watching it by myself
Four more hours to daylight
It’s killing me to kill this time

And the day, came to night
And it glowed a perfect hue
And she walked, through the rain
An important rendezvous
I see the fire reflected in your eyes
Stripped of all defenses and allies
Standing in a state of ancient grace
And so you keep your thoughts and wants within
And go about your life amidst the din
Can I find the answer in your soul
Let you take from me, I take from you
Adrift in loves adrenaline
And she turns, in the light
Of a thousand different moons
And the kiss, of the night
Brought a peace I seldom knew
And you hold in your hand
All the answers that I seek
And the way that you move
Is the heart of your mystique
And by the river’s moon, I ‘ll soon make three requests
If you turn down two of them, the third you must say yes
The third you must say yes
Say yes
Whisper to me yes
Treat Me Like A Child
© Greg Smith
I hear it hanging when you hang up the phone
A simple silence leaves me all alone
Paying penitence
You beat me soundly when I don’t behave
But I’ve become such a willing slave
For your punishment
Please yourself
Please give me something else
I can’t be what you wanted
Can’t you see that I’m haunted
Sting me along with sweetness and your smile
But why do you always treat me like a child?
Entertain you, then you send me away
‘Til you call me back and then we’ll play
In your universe
Wrap around you, make you feel so good
Would I be willing if I understood
You would do your worst
Please yourself
Please give me something else
Call me baby and maybe you’ll crave me
and maybe not
While I amuse you- give everything to you
Everything I’ve got
Wrap around you, make you feel so good
Would I have done it, if I understood
You would do your worst
Don’t Say
© Greg Smith
Peeling away all the layers surrounding my heart
Always in life, love is the simplest part
Say what you mean (and mean what you say)
Make me believe you won’t deceive, you’ll never leave
Once in a while in the spaces between all the words
A glint in your eye shows a darker side of your world
Poisonous lips (what you say in your kiss)
Is it a lie, there as we lie, should I ask why?
Don’t say, don’t say
Don’t say you’re leaving me behind
Say what you mean (and mean what you say)
Make me believe you won’t deceive, you’ll never leave
Don’t say, don’t say
Don’t say you’re leaving me behind
That is That

Doesn’t matter the time or season
tears are shed now for no good reason
Hurt remains from when she knocked you flat
So it’s time now to stop the madness
Put an end to pointless sadness
Carry on, she’s gone and that is that.
Just because she happens to fall into your mind
Doesn’t mean obsession, for love is rarely blind
Was a time that you gave her access
Long before she learned hate’s address
Carry on, she’s gone and that is that.
Coming up with reactions, for when you meet again
Letting go of the anger is time more richly spent
Never day or an hour passes
You don’t lie in your mind’s recesses
Just some more of life’s unwanted crap
Doesn’t matter the time or season
tears that fall are for no good reason
Carry on, she’s gone and that is that
She’s gone and that is that.
